Job summary

Select Medical in Milwaukee is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support a critical illness recovery hospital, focusing on ventilator management, airway care, pulmonary assessment and weaning, within an interprofessional team.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care for vulnerable patients, with duties spanning evaluation, bedside respiratory therapies, and education for families, in a PRN day shift with a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Must possess NBRC CRT or RRT credential (or state equivalent).
• Proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma preferred or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• BLS certification required by start date.
• Current state licensure is required.
• ACLS required upon hire (for agency RT, ACLS on first shift).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and use RT-driven protocols to liberate patients from mechanical ventilation and adjust treatment plans within scope.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical/surgical conditions.
• Perform bronchoscopies.
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Educate and counsel patients and families.

Education

NBRC CRT or RRT credential (NBRC or state equivalent)

Graduation transcript/diploma (preferred) or high school transcript/GED

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current state licensure

ACLS certification upon hire
