Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking an Upfit Supervisor to lead daily upfit operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The role requires directing Team Leaders and Installers, establishing daily plans, and maintaining a strong on-floor presence to drive continuous improvement.

The position emphasizes coaching, attendance management, and cross-functional coordination to meet targets and maintain production flow across shifts. A hands-on leader on the shop floor is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hourly production employees in fast-paced settings.
• Ability to read production schedules, drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work).
• Must spend majority on the production floor leading the operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Upfit operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity targets.
• Establish and communicate daily production plan, priorities, staffing, and work assignments.
• Maintain a strong shop-floor presence, monitoring production flow and addressing issues.
• Ensure vehicles, materials, tooling, work instructions, and requirements are ready before work begins.
• Monitor production performance against plan and take corrective action when targets are missed.
• Identify and escalate shortages, equipment issues, staffing constraints, or barriers impacting production.
• Ensure work is completed to quality standards and specifications.
• Drive accountability for workmanship and reduce defects and rework.
• Enforce safety requirements and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Coach, develop, and hold Team Leaders and employees accountable.
• Manage attendance, staffing, training, cross-training, and performance.
• Coordinate with other functions to maintain production flow.
• Participate in daily production/SQCD reviews and establish countermeasures.
• Lead and sustain 5S, standard work, visual management, and continuous improvement.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues.
