Job summary

Cox Automotive in Michigan is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Technician I to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on customer vehicles. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with potential to work as part of a team or independently to meet shop needs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and 1+ years of vehicle service/repair experience (customer service experience preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License and safe driving record required.
• 1+ years of vehicle service and repair experience; 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Must be able to workdays, afternoons, weekends, and holidays when necessary
• Must continue training to maintain status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, Battery replacement, and inspection of vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
• Performs some repairs and diagnostics.
• Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive-line components, etc.
• Keep the shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
• Inspection must be completed at a higher standard.
• Ability to work independently, and self-driven.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
