Job Title: Vehicle Technician - Apprenticeship Coach

The role

As a Vehicle Technician - Apprenticeship Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting the British Army's equipment and vehicle fleet management, which includes over 50,000 vehicles ranging from quad bikes to main battle tanks.

Your daily responsibilities will include visiting vehicle mechanic learners at their workplaces, utilizing your vocational experience to deliver training, coaching, assessing, and supporting them to complete their apprenticeships.

  • Support, motivate, and coach learners through their apprenticeship programs, ensuring timely completion and compliance with awarding bodies, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Monitor and review learner progress in line with customer expectations.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurately completed within specified timelines.
  • Provide guidance on portfolio development based on program requirements.
  • Record, plan, and track individual learner progress according to established processes.

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, on a permanent contract, and fully remote with travel to sites in Tidworth, Lyneham, Warminster, Colerne, Larkhill, Bulford, and St Athan. Flexible working arrangements may be considered, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing; discuss options at interview.

Essential experience
  • Significant experience in vehicle mechanics.
  • Understanding of work-based learning programs.
  • Previous experience in the defense sector, ideally within the army (desired but not essential).
Qualifications
  • Industry-related qualification (minimum Level 3 Vehicle Mechanic).
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must obtain and maintain Enhanced DBS and Child Barring Service (EDBSCBL) security clearance. Many positions are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be influenced by nationality, citizenship, or residency. More info at UK Security Vetting.
