The position requires 2–4 years of technician experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You will work 30+ hours per week, 8:30am–4:30pm, and collaborate with shop foreman and engineering teams.

Vehicle Technician (Full Time)

40.00 - 43.00 USD Per Hour

Schedule

Full time (usually 30+ hours/week)

Available Shifts

Shift: 8:30am to 4:30pm

On-going Contract

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll:

  • Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road usage.
  • Travel locally as needed to support vehicle setup, diagnostics, and maintenance work.
  • Sync with the shop foreman to ensure all vehicles are in a ready state for demonstrations and testing.
  • Perform diagnostics and elevate issues to the appropriate engineering team when required.
  • Coordinate and drive the repair process from start to finish.
  • Create diagnostic test plans as needed to support troubleshooting and validation.
  • Maintain service records and produce quality field reports.
  • Maintain shop facilities, ensuring tools are organized and the workspace is in excellent working condition.
  • Assist with parts inventory, tracking, and organization.
  • Deliver an excellent service experience for internal teams and business partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an automotive-focused engineering or research lab (i.e. Dyno, Battery, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CAN, wiring diagrams and soldering preferred
  • Experience and ability to tow a car hauler and other large trailers to transport fleet vehicles
  • Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally (on occasion)
RequireMENTS
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of technician experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean/excellent driving record.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Team player Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must be honest, responsible and an outstanding communicator
  • Pass a background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check, and drug screen.
  • Must comply with the Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods (8+ hours) depending on the equipment type.
  • Forklift and/or gantry operation is required: Current and valid forklift operator certification compliant with Cal/OSHA standards

Looking for an engineering-focused vehicle technician to support the readiness of our fleet vehicles. The vehicle technician will perform maintenance, repairs, and contribute towards the operations of our lab. This includes scheduled service, diagnostics, repair coordination, lab space fit/function, and general upkeep.
