Job summary

HireArt is seeking an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support the readiness of fleet vehicles in the Austin, TX area. This full-time, onsite role requires hands-on repairs, inspections, and collaboration with internal teams to optimize fleet maintenance processes and deliver a world-class service experience.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of technician experience, extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance, and the ability to multitask while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of technician experience
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair methods, parts, tools and materials
  • Must pass background check, MVR and drug screen
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality repairs and inspections according to work instructions and document findings in a service platform
  • Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks and make recommendations for safety and reliability
  • Inspect and test all work for safety standards compliance
  • Travel locally to configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road use
  • Assist with parts/tools inventory and ensure tools and shop facilities are in good condition
  • Perform diagnostics and escalate to engineering as needed
  • Maintain service records and quality field reports

Job description

Expected compensation: 40.00 - 43.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support the readiness of its fleet vehicles.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, contribute to the optimization of fleet maintenance processes, and deliver a world-class service experience.

We're looking for candidates that possess extensive knowledge of fleet maintenance and experience in conducting high-quality repairs, supported by a minimum of 5 years of technician experience.

Available Shifts

First Shift - Sunday - Thursday, 6:30AM - 3PM

Second Shift - Tuesday - Saturday, 2:30PM - 11PM

As a Vehicle Technician, You'll
  • Perform high-quality repairs and inspections efficiently and accurately according to work instructions and document findings/results in a specialized service platform.
  • Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks, making appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety and reliability of fleet vehicles.
  • Inspect and test all work performed as a Quality Control (QC) measure to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Be willing/able to travel locally from time to time to configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road usage.
  • Assist with parts/tools inventory, location, and organization, ensuring that technician tools and shop facilities are in excellent working condition.
  • Perform diagnostics and elevate to the appropriate engineering team, if required.
  • Assist with paperwork and documentation by maintaining service records and documenting quality field reports.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of technician experience
  • Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles/automotive systems
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must pass a background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check, and drug screen
  • Must comply with the Substance Abuse policy
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deliverables
  • Reliable self-starter with a "roll up the sleeves" work ethic
  • An outstanding communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must be honest and responsible with a team player spirit
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods (8+ hours) depending on the equipment type
  • Ability to obtain and successfully pass company-provided forklift and/or gantry operator certification after hire, in compliance with Cal/OSHA standards
  • This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
  • ASE certification and/or manufacturer certification
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux-based systems and embedded modules, including self-driving systems and sensor stacks
  • Diagnostic troubleshooting experience with OEM systems, including high-level experience working with:
    • HV systems and hybrid drivetrains
    • CAN/LIN
    • HVAC, cooling, chassis, and suspension
  • Knowledgeable regarding optimization of fleet maintenance and OEM maintenance items
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally (on occasion)

This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Austin, TX area.
