Position Summary:

The main job responsibility of the Vehicle Service Technician (VST) is to ensure each ambulance is stocked appropriately with not only medical supplies, but appropriate PPE, cleaning and safety products. The VST also maintains the outward appearance by washing and detailing when time and weather permits. The VST also maintains the supply warehouse and can be responsible for ordering, receiving, transferring, inventory cycle counting and overall accountability of the supply warehouse.

Essential Functions:

The VST may be assigned one or more duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prior to the beginning of the unit’s shift responsible for the inventory and restock of vehicles with the necessary medical equipment/supplies.
  • Inventory medical supplies and restock all units prior to the units going in service, including but not limited to: all hard equipment, soft and disposable equipment along with internal contents for Cardiac monitor, Drug box, airway bag, husky bag to include portable radios, gas card, pager, keys and unit cell phone.
  • Inventory and restock hard and soft bins as requested by Logistics supervisor or Operations Captain, and as indicated by inventory levels and company policy.
  • Report deficiencies, safety violations, and hazards to the Deployment Coordinator.
  • Complete Unit Inventory Form completely and accurately on window hanger and within OP IQ.
  • Check oxygen pressure levels and replace if below policy minimums. Ensure tanks are secured properly with correct strapping method.
  • Comply with established universal precautions and isolation procedures.
  • Maintain mop buckets with clean water and appropriate cleaner, clean mop head along with broom and window and interior cleaning products at the start of shift.
  • Coordinate shipment of assigned miscellaneous types of field equipment to designated Hubs as needed as directed by Logistics Supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in service education classes, on the job training programs, etc. as scheduled or as directed.
  • Handle, dispose of, and clean medical supplies and equipment without creating an undue exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Complete EVOS course with the understanding that VST’s operate vehicles in the routine course of their duties and by special assignment.
  • Following of the company uniform policy while on duty.
  • Completing location specific task i.e cleaning of backboards, washing of spider straps, assembling ambulance bins or bags and preparing deployment specific items.
Additional Duties:

The VST may be assigned one or more additional duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Turn in and report all “Lost and Found” items to the appropriate designated location.
  • Use spray washer, mop, bucket, etc. to clean the inside of the unit when necessary.
  • Package equipment needing maintenance or repair for shipment to designated service center.
  • Assist in lifting heavy chemical barrels, oxygen cylinders and equipment, supplies, etc. as requested.
  • Place and receive supply orders using the web-based inventory procurement software.
  • Have knowledge of the medical supply ordering system along with inventory transfer routine and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Clean driving record that aligns with company policy.

Frequently: Good manual dexterity, typing wpm 40, with the ability to perform all tasks related to the position of Vehicle Service Technician.

Constantly: Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, possess hand-eye-foot coordination and color recognition.
