Job summary

PACCAR Inc is seeking a Software Release Engineer in Lewisville, TX to manage embedded software deliverables and coordinate with stakeholders for vehicle software launches in PACCAR manufacturing plants and in the field.

The role involves collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure timely, high-quality software releases and robust calibration management, while aligning with industry standards and internal tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and/or releasing automotive or commercial vehicle system software.
• Experience with testing and/or designing software for autonomous vehicle systems.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB, C++, C#, etc.).
• Awareness of heavy-duty commercial truck regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, and On-Board Diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Release vehicle system software packages and customer-configurable parameter solutions for commercial trucks.
• Maintain and release drawings to document changes to vehicle system software calibrations and parameter characteristics.
• Complete engineering change notice documentation to implement software and parameter updates into production environments.
• Define and maintain the software package structures to maintain compatibility with PACCAR’s proprietary service tool and internal backoffice applications.
• Evaluate and improve processes for selecting, configuring, composing, and delivering embedded software.
• Translate requirements into parameter rules logic to support vehicle-specific calibrations to meet the needs of product designs and customer needs.
• Track and report progress of support activities leading to launch readiness and overall release schedule.
• Support launch at truck assembly plants as needed and resolve field issues as identified.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality of content delivery is met/maintained/exceeded on all releases.
• Coordinate with suppliers as needed to ensure purchased software is delivered correctly.
