Job description

Ever imagined saying, “I helped launch the future of transportation”?

We’re rewriting the rules of urban mobility. At Vay, customers tap a button and a car arrives - with no one inside - powered by our world-first Remote Driving technology on real public streets.

We’re live in Las Vegas and scaling fast, powered by a strategic investment of up to $410 million from Grab . Our mission is simple: replace private car ownership with a faster, cleaner, door-to-door mobility model. If you want to build something real, visible, and genuinely transformative, you’ll feel right at home here.

What’s happening at Vay
  • First to roll out vehicles in both Europe and the USA on public roads without a human being inside & currently the 2nd largest commercial, driverless car fleet in the Western World.
  • We've partnered with Kodiak to bring remote-driving technology to autonomous trucks in the US, showcasing our ability to integrate our system into heavy-duty commercial vehicles and expand the applications of our tech across the US.
  • We’ve completed over 150,000 trips so far and are busy multiplying our Las Vegas fleet just to meet demand!
  • ...And soon we’ll be expanding across the US & Europe
Why this role is awesome:

As a Production Vehicle Technician at Vay, you'll play a hands-on role in bringing the future of mobility to life. You'll help transform vehicles into remotely operated systems, working with cutting-edge Remote Driving technology as we scale our fleet in Las Vegas.

This isn't your typical technician role. You'll work across mechanical, electrical, and advanced vehicle systems, tackling technical challenges that don't always come with a manual. Working closely with our engineering and operations teams, you'll contribute directly to how we build, test, and improve our technology.

If you love building things, figuring out how they work, and seeing the results of your work out on the road, this is your opportunity.

What you'll be driving:

Build the future of mobility: Assemble, install, and integrate mechanical, electrical, communication, camera, and sensor systems into our remotely operated vehicles and Tele-stations.

Test and troubleshoot: Perform system validation, diagnose faults, and resolve technical issues using multimeters, precision instruments, and computer-based diagnostic tools.

Solve technical challenges: Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues, including those involving EV systems, embedded electronics, and Linux-based platforms.

Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, reduce inefficiencies, and contribute ideas that make our workshop more effective.

Own quality and safety: Maintain accurate digital build and maintenance records while ensuring high standards of workshop safety, quality, and organization.

What are we looking for:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, EV, aerospace, or a similar technical assembly, maintenance, or systems integration environment.

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including wiring, soldering, and electronic system diagnostics.

Experience assembling, modifying, or integrating complex vehicle systems, ideally including prototype, experimental, or custom vehicle builds.

Willingness and ability to learn Linux-based systems and computer-based diagnostic tools.

Familiarity with EV technology, embedded systems, cameras, sensors, or autonomous vehicle hardware is a strong advantage.

A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar technical challenges and know when to seek support.

Strong attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and operations teams.

A technical trade qualification, Associate Degree, or equivalent practical experience. ASE or manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Flexibility to support occasional overtime or holiday work when operationally required.

Why choose Vay:

A global team of smart, motivated people from 30+ countries who love tackling hard problems and turning bold ideas into reality.

Huge scope for impact in a fast paced environment
