Job summary

Slate is seeking a Vehicle Network and Diagnostics Engineer to develop and validate automotive communication systems. You will work across teams to ensure high-quality software communication plans, including CAN/CAN-FD, UDS, and AUTOSAR configurations, with emphasis on diagnostics, cybersecurity, and ISO standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with ECU diagnostics, bootloaders, FOTA, and risk-aware development, along with collaboration using Vector tools and EOL test platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
  • 5+ years in vehicle network architectures and diagnostics integration with automotive protocols.
  • 3+ years with automotive embedded software for ECU diagnostics, bootloaders, flashing, and cybersecurity.
  • 3+ years with diagnostic tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, ETAS, Wireshark).
  • 2+ years in systems engineering activities (requirements, interface, verification, validation).

Responsibilities

  • Develop vehicle communications requirements and manage development/sourcing/engineering.
  • Create and maintain CAN DB (.DBC) and diagnostic content (.CDD) files.
  • Design AUTOSAR-based serial communication protocols and interfaces.
  • Define and maintain fault code management strategy.
  • Implement UDS diagnostic services for CAN modules and validate with tools.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle communication interface specs (CAN DB or VCM).
  • Handle large ECU extracts and serial DB files (.DBC, .LDF).
