Job summary

Clint ISD in El Paso, Texas, seeks a skilled diesel and gasoline mechanic for the 2026-2027 school year. You will maintain and repair district vehicles, including school buses, and ensure safety standards are met.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; an Associate degree in Automotive Technology is preferred; a valid Texas CDL with Bus endorsements or the ability to obtain within 90 days; and the ability to pass drug tests and bus safety training.

• Valid Texas CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements or able to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair diesel and gasoline engines for district vehicles and buses.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently.
• Maintain and repair school buses and related equipment; read wiring diagrams.
• Maintain safety and comply with district policies; pass drug and alcohol tests as required.

Salary Range: $36,081-$43,449

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School diploma or GED
• Associates of Occupational Studies Degree in Automotive Technology (Preferred)
• ValidTexas Commercialdriver's license(Class A or B), with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
  or obtain within 90 days of employment (preferred)
• Must possess the minimum required tools for a mechanic
• Three years' experience as mechanic (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills :

• Advance knowledge of diesel and gas engines
• Advance knowledge on proper maintenance and repair of both diesel and gas engine vehicles
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently
• Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts
• Ability to pass alcohol and drug test
• Ability to pass required bus driver safety training
• Ability to operate a school bus
• Ability to read wiring diagrams
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft word and Excel spreadsheets
