Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5–7 years of related automotive repair experience.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Current ASE certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans work procedures.
• Raises vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist to access undersides.
• Removes engine, transmission or differentials and inspects parts.
• Disassembles units and repairs or replaces worn parts.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems.
• Rewires ignition, lights and instrument panel; operate scan tools.
• Extensive electronic diagnostic skills/experience required.
• Air conditioning experience with EPA 609 license.
• May work in austere climate; not all work is in a shop.
• Other duties may be assigned; experience with BMW and Mercedes preferred.

As the Vehicle Mechanic, you will repair and overhaul automobiles, trucks, ATVS and heavy equipment, specializing in late-model European, Diesel Japanese, and American vehicles and Diesel light and heavy equipment, aircraft loading and handling equipment with at least three years of hands-on experience.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans work procedures.Raises vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.Removes units such as engine, transmission, or differentials.Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.Diagnoses/troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems.Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.Must have extensive electronic diagnostic skills/experience.Must know how to operate/interpret scan tools.Must have air conditioning experience with EPA 609 license.Must be a self-starter, and willing to work in an austere climate, not all work is done in a shop environment.Other duties may be assigned.Preferred candidate will have experience with BMW and Mercedes.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Full Knowledge of the job.
