Vehicle Maintenance Foremen provide leadership and direction to the maintenance staff. This position is a working foreman and will regularly perform maintenance duties. Foremen are responsible for performing inspections, diagnostic testing, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles to ensure trucks are safe and operational.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 12:00 PM - 2:00 AM

Responsibilities:

• Communicate regularly with management regarding vehicle, container, and equipment status.
• Ensure repairs are completed according to maintenance schedules.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring proper repairs are made.
• Perform repairs in a safe manner complying with all regulations and policies.
• Follow preventive maintenance programs.
• Inspect, repair, and overhaul vehicle support systems such as electrical, air, hydraulic, and brake systems.
• Perform roadside repairs and adjustments.
• Ensure safety devices on vehicles are functional.
• Instruct personnel on maintenance procedures and practices.
• Assess technician skills relative to job requirements.
• Complete administrative duties such as parts requisitions, warranties, and record-keeping in SAP.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Assist in other areas of the maintenance shop as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to obtain CDL B license.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate service vehicles and perform test drives.
• Possess necessary tools for tasks.
• Familiarity with diagnostic software and computers.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Additional skills as required for specific tasks or locations.

Experience & Knowledge:

• At least 3 years of repair and maintenance experience on heavy trucks and diesel engines.
• Experience using repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Waste industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs, occasional up to 75 lbs.
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.
• Work in dusty, odorous, and airborne environments.
• Continuous walking, standing, and other physical activities.

Additional Conditions:

• Possible exposure to high traffic and waste materials.
• Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Valid driver’s license if applicable.
• Pre-employment testing required.
