Job summary

ASRC Energy Services, LLC is seeking a Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic on the North Slope of Alaska. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles and equipment, with potential supervision of apprentices and work on medium to heavy equipment as needed.

The position requires at least four years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and NSTC safety training.

Qualifications

  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect light vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repair light vehicles and equipment such as pumps, compressors, vans, pickups, welding and service trucks.
  • Repair/adjust engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, steering and transmissions.
  • Disassemble/assemble vehicle parts with hoists and hand/pneumatic tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance and oil changes per schedules.
  • Operate equipment to diagnose and ensure efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records meeting OEM warranty requirements.
  • Supervise apprentice workers in light vehicle/equipment repair.
  • Comply with company and customer policies; promote safety culture.

JOB SUMMARY

The Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles and equipment. This position may supervise apprentice workers engaged in vehicle and equipment repair work. Position may also require work to be performed on medium to heavy duty equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Inspect light vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Repair light vehicles and equipment such as large volume pumps and compressors, passenger vans, light duty pickup trucks, welding trucks, medium duty service trucks, and other auxiliary equipment such as light plants, heaters and other non-mobile equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, breaks, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
  • Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools and instruments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records that meet OEM warranty requirements.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
  • Supervise apprentice workers engaged in light vehicle and equipment repair work.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards.
