Job summary

Magna International Limited seeks a Vehicle Engineering Technician—Prototype vehicle assembly and instrumentation. You will work with engineers to assemble, diagnose, and service prototype vehicles, emphasizing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include integrating testing rigs, diagnosing CAN/LIN/FlexRay networks, and documenting results for the engineering team. Occasional travel and collaboration with cross-functional teams are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in an automotive research/development environment.
• Strong diagnostic troubleshooting experience with OEM systems: CAN, FlexRay, LIN, HVAC, cooling, chassis, electrical and suspension.
• Ability to adhere to a schedule including holidays, weekends, nights, and overtime.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% on short notice.
• Experience in a matrix organization and cross-functional teams.
• Vehicle prototype experience.
• Experience with instrumentation (Pressure Transducers, Thermocouples, Flow-meters, etc.).
• Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement or integrate new systems.
• Design, fabricate, assemble, test, deploy, and repair rigs and systems for vehicle prototypes.
• Demonstrate electrical skills and use DVOM for diagnosis and wiring work.
• Integrate and test instrumentation such as transducers and sensors.
• Complete reports and tests to support the engineering team.
• Lead hands-on activities and assist with technical writing and communication.
• Service and troubleshoot self-driving system components and sensor stacks.
• Diagnose OEM base vehicle systems using manufacturer software (CAN/LIN/FlexRay).
• Maintain fleet of prototype vehicles and update work orders and data.
