Job summary

Autocar, LLC in Hagerstown, IN is seeking a prototyping technician to assemble and validate prototype and testing vehicles and components. You will collaborate with design engineers on BOMs, parts, and prints, and assist with fabrication, toolmaking, and testing activities.

The role requires 1–2 years related experience with heavy truck knowledge a plus, and familiarity with CAD tools (UG NX, Teamcenter) and MS Office. Occasional travel and a focus on safety are expected.

• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Support prototype, engineering, validation and special build vehicles.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on BOMs, installation and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype, engineering, validation, and special build vehicles.
• Install and validate parts & components on engineering and method build vehicles.
• Provide feedback to design engineers related to BOMs, installation and accessibility issues.
• Work with design engineers to create prototype parts when prints are unavailable.
• Manufacture prototype parts and special tools.
• Assist with fabrication, assembly, modification and debugging of test systems.
• Build simple test fixtures and tools.
• Support in-house or field testing.
• Perform simple electrical assembly (wiring, connectors, circuit boards).
• Assist production initiatives by supporting part manufacturing/modification and new designs.
• Rework production components to support short lead-times for options.
• Maintain safe working environment and housekeeping. Travel may be required.
