Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Vehicle Engineering Manager to lead future electric vehicle concepts under the Vehicle Line Director. You will mentor engineers, align with the Chief Engineering team, and drive design, attribute definition, and cost targets using a data-driven approach.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across safety, dynamics, NVH, durability, styling, and manufacturing to push groundbreaking products.

Qualifications

  • Proven engineering experience and excellence in design.
  • Knowledge of mechanisms.
  • Exceptional understand of physics and material science, and proven track record of application of those theories to component/vehicle design
  • Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly, vehicle assembly or vehicle service
  • A strong desire to create state-of-the-art engineering products as an integral part of a capable team
  • Experience and/or good knowledge of manufacturing processes (Extrusions, Castings, Stampings, etc.)
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the automotive industry
  • Preferred Experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software preferred
  • Knowledge of high voltage architectures
  • Knowledge of vehicle crash safety principles
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles
  • Knowledge of NVH principles
  • Education BS/BEng (MS/Meng preferred), or equivalent experience, in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Cross functionally pulls teams together to design and develop concepts from a blank canvas to achieve architecture proposals for future vehicles
  • Lead benchmarking activities (system level and vehicle level) to comprehend the direction the industry is going and review together with engineering teams
  • Quickly CAD/sketch parts for systems across the vehicle which includes, but is not limited to: Body-In-White, Closures, Suspension, Interiors, Exteriors, Seating, High Voltage, Low Voltage and General Packaging
  • Represent the Chief Engineer in design reviews, sourcing councils, engineering change requests and issue tracking meetings
  • Evaluate different types of manufacturing methods for achieving the best combination of weight, attributes, and cost
  • Work closely with stakeholders and attribute owners across the company which includes, but is not limited to: Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Craftsmanship, Styling and Manufacturing
  • Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment

As a Vehicle Engineering Manager, you will work for the Vehicle Line Director of a specified vehicle program and design for the future of electric vehicles. You will sit with and meet daily with the Chief Engineering team to align on direction of the vehicle for design, attributes, and cost targets, and lead cross functional teams to achieve that goal. You will be accepted as a decision maker for concept freezes, engineering changes and sourcing. This role is open to engineers who have a proven background in excellent design, while also being able to mentor and teach other engineers around the organization. This role will be filled by someone who is passionate about working together to make groundbreaking products with amazing innovation.

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.
