Job summary

Fort Bend County seeks an Equipment Technician to diagnose and repair electrical systems, radios, sirens, light bars and other vehicle electronics. You will design, fabricate and install equipment for county vehicles and perform preventative maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of related experience; strong automotive diagnosis knowledge is essential. Starting pay is $20.71–$25.89 per hour, with full-time benefits and retirement via TCDRS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; two years of technical training preferred.
• Minimum 2 years job-related experience.
• Strong knowledge of automotive diagnosis and repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs electrical equipment in county vehicles.
• Designs, fabricates and installs equipment for vehicles.
• Performs preventative maintenance on county vehicles.
• Maintains records and prepares reports on work performed.
• Coordinates parts orders and equipment for projects.
• Assists others and strips retired vehicles of equipment.
• Participates in emergency management activities as directed.
