Job summary

Cumberland County Sheriff's Office seeks an Electronics Technician responsible for maintenance and repair of a wide range of electronic devices. You will calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair using standard equipment, following wiring diagrams and manuals.

Responsibilities include interpreting diagrams, installing devices, maintaining inventory, and possibly supervising helpers. Vehicle work may involve removal of striping and mounting equipment in various vehicles.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of electronic principles.
• Fundamentals of physical and applied electronics.
• Basic knowledge of mathematics as applied to electronics.
• Familiarity with operation and uses of standard test equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to systematically troubleshoot standard electronic devices.

• Ability to collaborate with other divisions within the Sheriff's Office and County Government.
• Ability to fabricate parts to adapt equipment for vehicles.
• Ability to use computer programs to maintain inventory databases.
• Modify electrical components to add law enforcement equipment to vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
• Uses standard test equipment to troubleshoot and calibrate devices.
• Constructs and installs electronic devices from schematics.
• Evaluates and installs electronic devices.
• Maintains inventory of common electronic equipment.
• May supervise helpers.
• Tears down vehicles to install equipment.
• Fabricates brackets to mount equipment in vehicles.
• Removes vehicle striping for repurposing.
