Job summary

ND Defense seeks a Vehicle Electrical Systems Engineer to lead electrical integration of bespoke mission kits into International vehicle platforms for military and government applications. You will interpret OEM wiring, develop ICDs, and verify performance through bench and vehicle testing in Madison Heights, MI.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with automotive or military vehicle electrical systems, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work independently and across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Computer Science engineering.
• U.S. citizen required (ITAR).
• Minimum 3 years of post‑graduate vehicle electrical integration experience.
• Experience with CAN communications (J1939).
• Experience interpreting OEM wiring and body builder docs for integration.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and perform load analysis.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and on large vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, test, and integrate mission equipment kits into vehicle architectures.
• Configure vehicle networks (CAN/LIN/Ethernet) and wiring harness interfaces.
• Create ICDs and interface control documents; ensure traceability.
• Perform bench and vehicle level testing to verify requirements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Support proposals with technical input and effort estimates.
• Work around large vehicles and occasional travel up to 10%.
