Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Vehicle Driver I in Austin to operate and maintain agency motor vehicles, transporting cargo and passengers as needed. The role supports the Food Service department and collaborates with the Food Service Manager on daily tasks.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a Texas driver license within 90 days of hire, and a safe driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of driving experience with passengers or cargo preferred.
• Texas driver license (within 90 days of hire) and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Operate vans/trucks, transport passengers and cargo.
• Maintain vehicle records and logs; follow instructions and safety rules.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and routine fueling and checks.
• Ensure cargo load limits and safety restraints are used.
• Assist in loading/unloading and support food service tasks when needed.
