Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission in Brenham seeks a Vehicle Driver I to operate and maintain motor vehicles on location, transporting cargo and passengers. This frontline role supports meal delivery to the food service team and ensures sanitation requirements are met.

The driver works under supervision, with no supervisory duties, and must complete routine vehicle maintenance and form/record keeping related to operations. OT and weekend shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid Texas driver’s license or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Prior work experience operating a motor vehicle with multiple passengers and/or transporting cargo is preferred (6 months).
• Employee must pass fingerprint background check, drug screen, and registry checks.

Responsibilities

• Delivers food and beverages to dormitories on a scheduled route.
• Operates vans, trucks and trailers and ensures safe driving practices.
• Assists in loading/unloading and stocking dining areas.
• Performs basic vehicle maintenance and daily pre/post trip checks.
• Ensures cargo and carts are within capacity and properly secured.
