Job summary

PACCAR, a Fortune 500 company, seeks an Electrical Controls Engineer to develop and validate next-generation vehicle control systems in a cross-functional, agile environment.

This role focuses on transforming prototype concepts into production-ready requirements, performing system evaluations, and supporting product launches with robust software and hardware integration across powertrain and vehicle electrical systems.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of software development experience in a related field.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for developing and validating control system models and simulations.
• Willingness to learn software engineering quality processes and tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in Scrum teams.
• Up to 10% travel (domestic/international).

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate system-level control architecture, requirements, designs, and verification/validation test plans to ensure conformance with product specifications and customer requirements.
• Design and develop rapid control prototype software models using industry-standard tools to validate functional features and establish proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Derive formal technical requirements specifications from validated models with traceability to upstream requirements and conduct peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, perform root-cause investigations, and report defects.
• Develop FMEA documentation and comprehensive test plans to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate in scrum teams to develop high-quality electronic system designs, software, and architecture.
• Work with a distributed cross-functional team of embedded, electrical, and mechanical engineers to support product launches and field issue resolution.
