Job summary

ACV Auctions in Venice, FL is seeking an Inspector to join our growing team. You will inspect vehicles at dealerships, verify damage, and prepare condition reports with repair estimates.

You’ll partner with Territory Managers and fellow Inspectors to deliver accurate, transparent vehicle information to our customers. This role requires hands-on mobility, English fluency, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in automobile field with customer service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods.
• Problem solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to understand customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle required.
• Knowledge of systems, software packages, and web-based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for long periods, lifting 25 lbs+.

Responsibilities

• Actively and consistently support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partner with a Territory Manager and Inspectors to conduct vehicle inspections at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease.
• Prepare and submit a report of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help sales team up-sell or cross-sell services and products.
• Interface regularly with dealers to develop client satisfaction and build relationships.
• Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect, and write condition reports for ACV Auctions platform.
• Take photos and upload them to the image server using the company app.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles for bidding and purchase on the platform.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize the platform.

What you will do

• Partnering with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors, conducts inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease, to detect damage, missing parts and mechanical problems.
• Prepare and submit a report of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help sales team up-sell or cross-sell services and products
• Interface regularly with our dealers to develop and ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to & from dealerships and homes to inspect, and write condition reports, list vehicles to sell on the auction platform.
• Take multiple, overall, and damage photos match them to a vehicle, and download them to the image server utilizing the company issued smart phone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles utilizing ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize ACV Auctions digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you will need

• 1 year(s) Experience in the automobile field (body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge) with customer service background
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time.
• Problem solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
• Proven success to work independently with minimal supervision while working in a team environment.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
• Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle required.
• Knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to or more than 25 lbs, bending, and squatting
• Ability to drive a manual & automatic transmission.
• Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Compensation

The hourly compensation range for this position is listed in the "Job Details" section at the bottom of this posting. This position is eligible for additional compensation pursuant to ACV’s incentive compensation plan: the average monthly incentive earned by VCI's in this territory in 2025 was ($786). Please note that final compensation will be determined based upon the applicant's relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and performance (for incentive pay), and other factors as permitted by law.
