Job summary

ACV Auctions in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an enthusiastic Inspector who loves cars and thrives in a fast-growing team. Inspectors are the face of ACV, combining deep car knowledge with clear communication to explain findings to clients.

You will travel to dealerships and auctions to inspect vehicles, write detailed condition reports, and collaborate with a Territory Manager to help customers buy and sell with confidence.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in the automobile field with customer service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods.
• Problem solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to understand customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance on a registered vehicle.
• Knowledge of systems and relevant software/web applications.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for long periods.
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Vision to identify small defects on and around vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Support efforts to enhance the customer experience.
• Inspect vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease to detect damage and issues.
• Prepare and submit reports of vehicle condition and repair estimates.
• Assist sales team with up-sell or cross-sell opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with dealers to ensure client satisfaction.
• Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect and write condition reports.
• Capture and upload vehicle photos and map them to reports.
• List inspected vehicles on ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchase.
• Register independent dealerships as buyers on the platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

ACV Auctions is looking for an enthusiastic Inspector who has a knack for cars and wants an opportunity to join a growing company. Our Inspectors are the face of our company. What you will do:

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partnering with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors, conducts inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease, to detect damage, missing parts and mechanical problems.
• Prepare and submit a report of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
• Help sales team up-sell or cross-sell services and products
• Interface regularly with our dealers to develop and ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to & from dealerships and homes to inspect, and write condition reports, list vehicles to sell on the auction platform.
• Take multiple, overall, and damage photos match them to a vehicle, and download them to the image server utilizing the company issued smart phone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles utilizing ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to utilize ACV Auctions digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you will need:

• 1 year(s) Experience in the automobile field (body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge) with customer service background
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time.
• Problem solving aptitude to meet challenges with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
• Proven success to work independently with minimal supervision while working in a team environment.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
• Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle required.
• Knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
• Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to or more than 25 lbs, bending, and squatting
• Ability to drive a manual & automatic transmission.
• Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Compensation

The hourly compensation range for this position is listed in the "Job Details" section at the bottom of this posting. This position is eligible for additional compensation pursuant to ACV's incentive compensation plan: the average monthly incentive earned by VCI's in this territory in 2025 was $503.00. Please note that final compensation will be determined based upon the applicant's relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and performance (for incentive pay), and other factors as permitted by law.
