Job summary

The Panther Group is hiring an Automated Test Equipment Engineer in the Sterling Heights, MI area to design, develop, integrate and deliver specialized automated test equipment used to validate hardware systems.

You will create hardware interface schematics, LabVIEW routines, develop test strategies, and coordinate fabrication while supporting reviews, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure products meet performance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of applicable engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with LabVIEW.
• Experience with GPIB, USB, LXI, and PXI instrumentation and communication buses.
• Programming experience with C++, Python, or Visual Basic is a plus.
• Experience operating electronic test equipment, including: Power supplies, Electronic loads, Oscilloscopes, Digital multimeters (DMMs).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Project, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
• Experience working with complex hardware systems or vehicle systems is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically as needed; travel is not required for the position.

• Develop automated test equipment software routines using LabVIEW.
• Develop test strategies, devices, systems, and supporting documentation.
• Design new test equipment components and improve existing equipment.
• Integrate and assemble automated test consoles, equipment, and associated cables.
• Verify test equipment and software against product requirements and specifications.
• Develop test reports using captured test data and LabVIEW.
• Coordinate material build kits and support technicians with test equipment fabrication and assembly.
• Perform hardware and software code reviews and assist with troubleshooting.
• Support engineering and quality reviews for test equipment and test software.
• Operate and troubleshoot a variety of electronic test instrumentation.
• Work closely with engineering team members to ensure products meet technical and performance requirements.
• Maintain and organize associated engineering laboratory equipment and workspaces.
• Perform analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of test equipment and components.
• Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
