Automated Test Equipment Engineer Location: Sterling Heights, MI Employment Type | Hours: Contract | Full-Time Pay Range: $63-$70/hour
As an Automated Test Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and delivery of specialized Automated Test Equipment (ATE) used to validate and verify the functional performance of military vehicle hardware. You will work with engineering teams to develop test equipment, software, electrical designs, and test strategies that ensure products meet their requirements.
Develop hardware interface schematics and material part lists. Develop test equipment control software routines using LabVIEW. Coordinate material build kits and support technicians with test equipment fabrication. Verify that test equipment and test software support product requirement compliance. Support quality reviews for designed test equipment and test software. Design new components and make improvements to existing test equipment. Perform analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of components. Develop test strategies, devices, and systems. Develop test reports from captured data using LabVIEW. Work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure products meet requirements. Create electrical design drawings and develop electrical cable drawings. Assemble automated test consoles and related equipment and cables. Maintain and organize associated engineering labs. Perform hardware and software code reviews and assist with troubleshooting. Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to support engineering activities.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering. Minimum of 7+ years of applicable engineering experience. Experience using LabVIEW software. Experience with GPIB, USB, LXI, and PXI bus instruments. Experience programming with C++, Python, or Visual Basic. Ability to operate test instrumentation, including: Power supplies Electronic loads Oscilloscopes Digital multimeters (DMMs) Function generators Data acquisition systems (DAQs) Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Project, OneNote, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with engineering teams and support technical projects.
Prior experience working on military ground-based vehicle systems. Experience designing and developing automated test equipment for complex hardware systems. Experience with electrical design drawings, cable drawings, and test equipment fabrication. Experience with hardware and software code reviews. Willingness and ability to travel domestically, as needed.
