Enjoy working outdoors? Would you like to gain experience in Forestry? ACRT Pacific is seeking energetic entry-level professionals who enjoy outdoor work. This full-time position is ideal for those with backgrounds in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation, or related fields, seeking hands-on experience.

The Vegetation Management Inspectors patrol for hazard trees, conduct identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines, and assist in submitting inspection results with recommendations. They also plan, direct, and coordinate activities of tree clearance crews, negotiate access issues, and serve as liaisons between clients, crews, and customers.

Note: This role is safety-sensitive.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Perform circuit patrols according to the annual VM plan and standards.
  2. Identify and prescribe tree work along PG&E rights-of-way, document inspections.
  3. Ensure inspections meet applicable standards.
  4. Notify property owners and obtain necessary permissions for tree work.
  5. Act as the VM contact for new and re-construction work requests.
  6. Verify work completion and quality through inspections.
  7. Investigate and document tree-related outages, attend outage meetings.
  8. Manage VM tags, track work, notify customers, and assist in case closeouts.
  9. Support emergency responses and dispatch tree crews as directed.
  10. Complete tasks independently and support vegetation project oversight.
  11. Participate in safety meetings and act as customer representative.
  12. Coordinate with contractors, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  13. Ensure compliance with all relevant permits and environmental measures.
  14. Proficiently use electronic devices for documentation and reporting.
Basic Responsibilities
  • Patrol circuits, prescribe work, and ensure compliance for at least one year.
  • Determine trimming needs, assess hazards, and notify property owners.
  • Manage notifications, perform outage investigations, and document work using mobile devices.
  • Support emergency response, maintain contact with PG&E personnel and the public.
  • Follow safety standards and demonstrate professionalism and accountability.
Equipment, Environmental & Safety Requirements
  • Operate vehicles and forestry equipment, walk on uneven terrain, and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Handle dust, fumes, chemicals, and safety gear like hard hats and safety glasses.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • One year of arboricultural experience, ISA certification, or related college degree with approval.
  • Reside within 50 miles of San Carlos.
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of local trees and growth rates.
  • Ability to learn company software, read maps, and work in rugged terrain.
  • Strong communication, accountability, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing conditions, and develop new ideas.

Position Title: Vegetation Management Inspector (VMI)

Reports to: Operations Manager

Division & Department: Operations

Compensation: $39.27 - $41.70/hour DOE, with additional benefits.
