Bayer is seeking a Vegetable Seed Intern to support and learn the fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing across multiple California locations (Woodland, Williams, San Juan Bautista). You will work with regional and global stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in reliability, quality, and cost.

This internship emphasizes collaboration, data handling, and hands-on exposure to manufacturing, field activities, and SAP reporting while developing leadership and project execution skills

Responsibilities

• Support fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing and document processes.
• Assist with manufacturing excellence documentation and cross-functional projects.
• Collaborate with onsite manufacturing teams on key projects and deliverables.
• Support field activities including seed shipments, reconciliation, and trial coordination.
• Complete data validation and SAP reports for global/regional needs.
• Support Quality and HSE programs to meet targets and metrics.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Work with Crop Specialists, Field Quality, and Production Research on projects to improve reliability, quality, or cost.
• Contribute to global/regional standardization and optimization initiatives.

Job description

As a Vegetable Seed Intern, you support and learn the fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing while building strong relationships with regional and global stakeholders; In this role, you contribute to operational excellence by assisting with documentation, supporting manufacturing and field activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement across reliability, quality, and cost; You are part of a diverse, inclusive, and innovative environment where your curiosity, initiative, and passion for agriculture help shape sustainable solutions for farmers and communities worldwide. The location of these positions are Woodland, CA; Williams, CA; and San Juan Bautista, CA.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Support and learn the fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing while building rapport with regional and global stakeholders;
• Assist with documentation of operational processes within the Manufacturing Excellence function;
• Work with onsite Manufacturing teams to execute key projects and deliverables in the processing of vegetable seeds;
• Support field activities including timely stock seed (SS) shipment to growers and SS reconciliation, trial coordination, rouging, disease and weed scouting, pollination, harvesting, threshing, drying, and delivery from growers to the processing facility;
• Complete data validation and SAP reports to support global and regional operations needs, including equipment run time, sustainability data, and plant scheduling needs;
• Support Quality and HSE functions to drive key programs and targeted metrics;
• Collaborate with cross-functional regional and global teams to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the team to implement solutions;
• Cooperate with Crop Specialists, Field Quality, and Production Research personnel to identify, develop, and implement projects to improve reliability, quality, and/or cost;
• Contribute to business initiatives, standardization, and optimization projects with global and regional teams.

WHO YOU ARE

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program;
• Valid driver’s license and personal transportation to and from the worksite, as most work locations are situated in areas with limited or no public transportation;
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team-based environment;
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of the organization;
• Self-motivated with a strong results orientation and a high level of ownership;
• Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail;
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to organize thoughts, data, and activities effectively;
• Excellent computer skills related to data acquisition and record keeping;
• Demonstrated leadership potential, with the ability to take initiative and contribute to team success;
• Ability to learn quickly, willingness to ask questions, and adaptability to change.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
