Bayer AG is seeking a Vegetable Seed Intern in Idaho (Nampa or Payette). The role supports and learns the fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing, building relationships with regional and global stakeholders.

You will assist with documentation, field activities, data validation, and process improvements to enable high-quality seed production. Requirements include current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program, a valid driver’s license, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with documentation of operational processes within Manufacturing Excellence.
  • Collaborate with onsite Manufacturing teams to execute projects for vegetable seeds processing.
  • Support field activities: stock seed shipments, reconciliation, trial coordination, rouging, disease/weed scouting, pollination, harvesting, threshing, drying, and delivery to processing facility.
  • Complete data validation and SAP reports to support global and regional operations needs.
  • Support Quality and HSE programs to drive key metrics.
  • Work with regional and global teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with Crop Specialists, Field Quality, and Production Research to improve reliability, quality, and cost.
  • Engage with global and regional teams on business initiatives and standardization projects.

In this role, you will support and learn the fundamentals of vegetable seed manufacturing while building strong relationships with regional and global stakeholders. You will contribute to key operational, field, and process improvement activities that enable reliable, high-quality seed production.

The location for this role is Nampa, Idaho or Payette, Idaho.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Vegetable Seed Intern, include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with documentation of operational processes within the Manufacturing Excellence function;
  • Work with onsite Manufacturing teams to execute key projects and deliverables in the processing of vegetable seeds;
  • Support field activities including: timely stock seed (SS) shipment to growers and SS reconciliation, trial coordination, rouging, disease and weed scouting, pollination, harvesting, threshing, drying, and delivery from grower to processing facility;
  • Complete data validation and SAP reports to support global and regional operations needs, including equipment run time, sustainability data, and plant scheduling needs;
  • Support Quality and HSE functions to drive key programs and targeted metrics;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional regional teams and global teams to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the team to implement solutions;
  • Cooperate with Crop Specialists, Field Quality, and Production Research personnel to identify, develop, and implement projects to improve reliability, quality, and/or cost;
  • Work with global and regional teams on business initiatives, standardization, optimization projects, and related activities.
WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program;
  • Valid driver’s license and personal transportation to and from the worksite, as most work locations are situated in areas with no public transportation available;
  • Ability to build relationships and work well in a team-based environment;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization;
  • Self-motivated with a strong results orientation;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to organize (thoughts, data, etc.);
  • Excellent computer skills related to data acquisition and record keeping;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability;
  • Ability to learn, willingness to ask questions, and adaptability to change.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
