OVERVIEW

The VDC Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership of the Virtual Design & Construction team by coordinating personnel, assigning work, monitoring project progress, and supporting the successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously. This role bridges department leadership with project teams, ensuring modeling standards, coordination efforts, and project deliverables align with company expectations while developing team members through coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities
Support the team members in the VDC Department
  • Coaches' modelers and coordinators for successful accomplishment of their Key Results by assessing their existing skill sets, identifying areas for coaching/training and providing feedback
  • Train team and assist in the development of software, BIM, and VDC standards
  • Ensure standards are communicated and followed throughout the department
  • Promotes and exemplifies company culture and linking values
  • Coordinates personnel based on workload and schedule
  • Ensure modelers and coordinators understand the client's and field operation's needs, objectives, and challenges on projects and work for their success along with others
Support the Field and our Clients
  • Works together with Project Managers and Superintendents to identify project scope and facilitate the completion of said scope
  • Flag and document VDC scope of work changes based on field requests, client requests, design changes and communicate them to Project Managers for updating budgeted hours
  • Develops and communicates internal VDC schedule based on project build schedule and client's VDC schedule
  • Identifies and communicates to Superintendents and Project Managers need by dates for key information and files required to produce models and drawings
  • Communicate with project team and client to eliminate any impacts to department's productivity caused by client, field operations, design changes, etc
  • Reviews productivity goals with VDC Coordinators and Layout Specialists to ensure schedules align with project timelines
  • Ensures the team is held to the standards of productivity and quality of work
  • Tracks timelines and progress towards deliverables for reporting to project teams
  • Track billed hours by project and drawing code for cost analysis
  • Utilize and manage third party partners to ensure the department can support the current workload
  • Ensures all active projects have the resources needed for success
Department Efficiency and Innovation
  • Updates historical database with final billed hours from completed projects for creation of production rates
  • Gathers and records feedback on models and drawings
  • Gathers, records, and communicates feedback from team of systems and procedures
  • Implement standards for department work product (ie. Drawing codes, drafting conventions, etc.)
  • Updates department workflows and SOPs based on latest best practices
  • Researches and shares trends in electrical fabrication design
Relationships & Business Development
  • Builds relationships between field management and department staff that promotes a collaborative approach to project planning
  • Ensures and facilitates communication between the VDC department and project staff regarding project health, budget, constraints, issues, and progress
  • Provide feedback to Estimating with regard to client's actual VDC requirements and revised estimated hours for the work
  • Represents company's VDC expertise at project interview and potential client meet & greets
Salary

$60.00-$70.00/hour

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • 7+ Years of experience working in BIM environment
  • Proficiency in the latest versions of Autodesk Revit and Evolve
  • Highly knowledgeable in BIM 360/ACC, Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam, AutoCAD
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to create complex parametric families, understand and work with complex families, based on department needs
  • Actively mitigate potential problems on a project
  • Ability to use all resources provided to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Mindful and deliberate in producing high quality, well-thought-out work, systems and standards
  • Strong, expert level Revit and Evolve proficiency
  • Ability to read and understand drawings from multiple disciplines and identify potential flaws or risks
  • Ability to troubleshoot software issues independently for themselves and the team
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multilevel teams and clients
Safety & Physical Requirements
  • Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday
  • Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach
