Job summary

Royal Electric Company is seeking a VDC Modeler to join the Virtual Construction Department, supporting project management and field leadership. You will model and produce sheets to Royal standards using Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and related tools, ensuring accuracy to reduce field conflicts and improve schedule.

This entry-level role offers training within a learning environment, opportunities to grow in BIM workflows, and exposure to multiple trade partners on construction projects.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in BIM environment.
• At least 0-2 years of working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
• At least 0-2 years of experience with ACC Forma, Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sr Modeler & Coordinators in modeling and drawing production to Royal standards.
• Thoroughly understand the task and communicate with VDC Coordinator & Supervisor.
• Look for new methods to optimize workflow, meet deadlines and budgets.
• Follow Royal drafting standards to create neat, comprehensive drawings.

OVERVIEW:

The VDC Modeler is the first position in the Modeler series that makes up the Virtual Construction Department at Royal. This role is designed to operate within a training and learning environment, gaining foundational experience in virtual construction practices. The VDC team is a key partner to project management and field leadership throughout the construction process. Using various modeling technologies and processes the VC team improves the project quality, cost, and schedule by coordinating with trade partners, reducing field conflicts, and ensuring accuracy for efficient installation in the field.

Responsibilities

Model & Sheet Production

• Assist Sr Modeler & Coordinators in modeling and drawing production to Royal standards
• Thoroughly understand the task to be performed and maintains communication with VDC Coordinator & Supervisor
• Actively looks for new means & methods to current workflow to optimize team output, meet deadlines and maintain budgets
• Follows industry and Royal drafting standards to create neat, comprehensive and easy to read drawings

Technical Skills

• Demonstrates an aptitude to the technical skills required to perform the work in the following software: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Evolve Electrical, Bluebeam
• Demonstrates strong desire to learn new techniques and software
• Independently and proactively learns and troubleshoots software with all tools provided
• Demonstrates a natural fluency with computers and software. Able to learn new programs quickly

Trade Knowledge

• Demonstrates an aptitude to reading and learning plans, specs, submittals, and codes required to perform the work
• Familiar with trade and construction knowledge required to perform the work; is preferred
• Demonstrates a strong desire to learn about trade and construction materials and methods
• Seeks out guidance from VDC or Field teams for their trade knowledge or field experience

Organization & Communication Skills

• Brings difficult issues forward to other team members for guidance. Clarifies needs to others
• Follows directions, keeps good notes, sets daily and weekly goals for self
• Keeps digital workspace neat and organized (ie:.Organizes model browser, deletes unnecessary views and sheets)
• Follows department file management policies so that files and digital assets are readily accessible by all department members

Salary: $25.00-$30.00/hour

Requirements

Education & Experience

• 0-2 years of experience in BIM environment
• At least 0-2 years of working knowledge of the latest versions of Autodesk Revit
• At least 0-2 years of experience working with ACC Forma, Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam preferred

Required Skills & Abilities

• Ability to troubleshoot minor software issues independently
• Possess a strong attention to detail and organization
• Effectively communicate with team members and key project stake holders
• Ability to read and understand plans, specs, submittals, and codes to perform work

Safety & Physical Requirements

• Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites
• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures
• Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday
• Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
