Job summary

SSOE Group is seeking a VDC Specialist IV in the United States to lead BIM/VDC project setup, manage the CDE, and ensure high-quality 3D design deliverables. You will build automations, enforce standards, and mentor project teams across multidisciplinary projects.

You will implement BIM Execution Plans, conduct health checks, support interoperability via API workflows, and collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors. Travel occasionally is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline with 10–15+ years of BIM/3D CAD experience preferred; OR Associate degree with 10–15+ years relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with two or more VDC/BIM model-authoring platforms.
  • Proficiency with VDC software such as Navisworks Manage, ReCap, and Autodesk plugins.
  • Knowledge of collaboration platforms like BIM 360, SharePoint; API-based workflows preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

About the Role

SSOE Group is hiring a VDC Specialist IV to lead BIM/VDC project setup, manage the Common Data Environment (CDE), enforce BIM standards, build automations, and train/mentor project teams to ensure interoperable, high-quality 3D design deliverables across multidisciplinary projects.

Role

The VDC Specialist IV is responsible for project setup and delivery of BIM/VDC workflows, managing the Common Data Environment (CDE), enforcing client and company standards, performing model health checks, developing automations, and training and mentoring project teams. The role works under the Department/Section Manager and collaborates with project management, clients, architects, trade partners, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up projects, base files, clash reports, and point cloud files.
  • Manage CDE configuration and project software permissions.
  • Author, implement, and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BxP) and BIM documentation.
  • Develop and enforce workflow process standards and modeling expectations.
  • Facilitate BIM meetings and provide team training; mentor Specialist I–III staff.
  • Enforce clash detection/resolution and perform model audits and health checks.
  • Create automations and processes to extract data from models and minimize manual re-entry.
  • Develop, manage, and administer design software automations and content libraries; create families and manage shared parameters.
  • Research new applications and workflows, test and roll out software upgrades, troubleshoot design software issues, and support interoperability via software exchanges and API-based workflows.
  • Collaborate with disciplines on integration with analysis applications and support advanced software functions.
  • Occasional travel as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline with 10–15+ years of BIM/3D CAD experience in a professional-services environment preferred; OR an Associate degree in BIM/CAD Technology with 10–15+ years relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with two or more VDC/BIM model-authoring platforms (examples listed below).
  • Proficiency with VDC application software such as Navisworks Manage, ReCap, and Autodesk plugins (e.g., Ideate BIMLink, Model Explorer).
  • Working knowledge of collaboration/productivity platforms including Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Bluebeam, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software customization and API-based workflows preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Knowledge of design and construction processes, multidisciplinary coordination, and information exchange; familiarity with multiple project-delivery methods, Lean Construction, and Concurrent Engineering preferred.
  • Salary: $105,000–$130,000 per year (commensurate with location, experience, certifications, and project complexity).
