Actalent is seeking a Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Specialist to support active and upcoming construction projects in Austin or Dallas, TX. This hands-on role emphasizes BIM coordination, clash detection, model development, and collaboration with project managers, field supervision, and trade partners.

The position involves coordinating architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing models, performing clash checks, and maintaining thorough coordination documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on BIM/VDC model coordination for assigned construction projects.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other trade models.
• Perform clash detection and coordination using Navisworks and other BIM/VDC technology.
• Work directly with subcontractors and trade partners to identify and resolve model conflicts.
• Assemble 3D content provided by project partners and model missing content as needed.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and models for errors, omissions, and coordination issues.
• Incorporate design changes and updates into project models.
• Support project managers, field supervision, and other operations personnel with BIM-related needs.
• Assist with BIM-related RFIs and project documentation.
• Maintain clear coordination documentation, including meeting notes, agendas, and constraint logs.
• Communicate project constraints and coordination concerns to project teams before they negatively impact construction.
• Provide technical BIM/VDC support and guidance to internal project teams.
• Help project teams effectively utilize BIM technology and VDC processes.
• Take ownership of assigned coordination responsibilities and drive tasks through completion.
• Maintain strong working relationships with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and trade partners.
• Support multiple projects, including projects being coordinated remotely, with occasional jobsite visits as needed.

Job Title: Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) SpecialistJob Description

We are seeking a Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Specialist to support active and upcoming construction projects in Austin or Dallas, TX. This is a hands-on VDC position for someone who enjoys being directly involved in BIM/model coordination rather than primarily managing a team. The VDC Specialist will support project teams through BIM coordination, clash detection, model development, and multi-trade coordination, working closely with project managers, field supervision, subcontractors, and trade partners.

Essential Skills

• 38 years of VDC/BIM or related construction experience.
• Experience with Autodesk Forma / model coordination.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Navisworks Manage, particularly clash detection and coordination.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit, including Architecture, Structure, and/or MEP.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360.
• Experience with AutoCAD / DWG files and Bluebeam.
• Strong technical skills in 3D/BIM model coordination.
• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and multi-trade coordination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in MEP, architecture, or field construction is preferred.
• Candidates with strong architectural or broader construction/VDC experience will also be considered.

Work Environment

The work environment involves supporting multiple projects, including those being coordinated remotely, with occasional jobsite visits as needed. The role demands collaboration with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and trade partners, ensuring effective use of BIM technology and VDC processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $62.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
