The Role:

As a VDC Manager specializing in mechanical and/or piping, you'll apply your engineering skills across various projects, contribute to thought leadership in BIM and VDC, and manage a small team of VDC Engineers.

This includes ensuring that plumbing and/or mechanical projects for trade contractors incorporate BIM processes from schematic design through construction. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and is passionate about developing and implementing innovative BIM processes across dispersed teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead global project management of VDC/BIM projects, planning and progressing projects independently
• Manage a team of 2-3 VDC Engineers and multiple BIM specialists
• Serve as a subject matter expert in plumbing and/or mechanical areas
• Act as a primary client interface, cultivating relationships, presenting work, and conducting meetings
• Respond to RFIs and manage the RFI process
• Coordinate global project teams to complete client work
• Create and manage complex design projects within Revit, Navisworks, Procore, BIM360, and other tools
• Participate in and lead training efforts, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing
• Expand knowledge by involving in projects outside core plumbing/mechanical focus

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years experience with BIM and VDC implementation, training, and support
• Managed 2-3 VDC Engineers or detailers
• 5+ years experience with plumbing and/or mechanical trade contractors
• Experience with BIM updates, clash detection, and stakeholder communication
• Proficiency in modeling, drafting, and reading mechanical and plumbing plans
• Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment
• Strong multi-project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Proactive, flexible, and willing to work early/late hours for international coordination
• Experience leading remote meetings and training sessions
• Experience with AutoCAD MEP and/or Fabrication CADMEP

Preferred Qualifications:

• Field construction experience
• Experience in project administration such as invoicing, budgeting, scheduling
• Knowledge of other building systems and constructability of modeled systems
• Portfolio of work to share
• Proven remote team management skills
• Experience providing professional services to clients

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $100,000 to $125,000, with potential bonuses
