Job summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking a Virtual Construction Engineer to coordinate and manage digital models for complex commercial projects.

The role emphasizes learning Messer processes, producing 3D models, and collaborating with design and field teams to support self-perform work and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 0–2 years of experience with Revit/Navisworks/SketchUp, in a commercial construction environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Civil Engineering, Architecture Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in virtual construction engineering; commercial construction environment preferred.
• Basic experience in producing/manipulating 3D models using Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, or other model authoring software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage virtual models for construction and field use.
• Produce and maintain 3D models throughout project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with project team to support shop drawing/model production for self-performance efforts.
• Review 3D models for conformance to schematic design, design development, or construction documents.
• Coordinate with Estimating for quantity extraction to enable Model-Based Cost Planning.
• Coordinate with field engineers to export layout points for field survey equipment.
• Prepare point cloud/UAV data for design and construction model progression.
• Prepare models for AR/VR use in the field.
• Create models, animations, and video to support project requirements.
• Support safety planning using models for Zero Injury program and align with Messer's Quality Program.
