Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a VDC Engineer in Sanford, FL to plan, visualize, and model construction projects. You will produce detailed BIM drawings and coordinate with Superintendents and engineers from other disciplines to follow.

Responsibilities include leading project tasks, setting up models, coordinating 3D reviews, supporting LiDAR/Drone reality capture, and ensuring deliverables meet standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in A/E/C fields.
• 2 years college credits with four years in VDC/Design/Engineering.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience; internship preferred.
• Experience with Autodesk AEC Suite: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Plant3D, Civil3D, Recap.
• Familiarity with Forma, DroneDeploy, Procore.
• Understanding of design/construction documents and building systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate with senior team members and coordinate resources.

Responsibilities

• Plan, visualize, and model construction projects using BIM.
• Produce detailed drawings and models for field use by Superintendents and engineers.
• Lead select project tasks and coordinate with trade teams.
• Set up and manage project models through the lifecycle.
• Conduct 3D trade coordination meetings and support trade drafters.
• Support reality capture services (LiDAR, SLAM, Drone).
• Lead QA/QC and manage BIM across platforms.
• Generate drawings and details following project BIM standards.
• Troubleshoot software, processes, and technical issues.
