Job summary

Clark is seeking a VDC Engineer/Coordinator to lead BIM coordination and VDC strategy across projects in the San Francisco area. You will collaborate with the VDC Manager, support departments, and coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure constructability and efficient workflows.

The role requires BIM software proficiency, strong communication, and an ongoing commitment to VDC education. You will engage with on-site teams to implement best practices and contribute to project success.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in VDC coordination or similar role in construction.
• Proficient with Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks, Synchro/Fuzor, Assemble and SketchUp.
• Able to navigate complex federated models, design docs, specs, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Strong knowledge of BIM processes for MEP coordination in project delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to pursue continued education in VDC.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the VDC Manager to design and implement VDC strategy across the project life cycle.
• Support internal departments to understand processes and assist in implementing VDC workflows.
• Coordinate BIM with Architectural, MEPTF, Civil, and other disciplines and assist with site logistics.
• Identify constructability issues, missing model information, and issue RFIs to resolve them.
• Oversee enforcement of the BIM coordination plan and schedule on projects.
• Represent Clark in VDC presentations to clients and industry groups.
• Assist with VDC goals and monitor BIM workflows, QA/QC and value proposition.
• Review technical implementation of VDC setup, including laser scans and sUAS data integration.
• Facilitate BIM meetings and MEP coordination sessions.
• Interact with job sites to stay current on VDC implementations.
• Promote collaboration among VDC personnel and share best practices.
• Participate in strategic initiatives related to VDC/BIM.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the VDC Manager in the Design and implementation of VDC strategy throughout the project life cycle from design and construction to facilities management
• Play a support role in the work with internal departments to understand current processes, advise, and assist in implementing VDC processes
• Support model coordination with Architectural, MEPTF, Civil, and other disciplines, work with project superintendents concerning site utilization plans and logistics including AR/VR integrations
• Identify and manage constructability issues, and missing model information, and notify respective parties of issues and RFIs to support the resolution process
• Oversee and support the enforcement of the BIM coordination plan/schedule on projects
• Represent Clark by participating in VDC presentations to clients and industry groups
• Assist with the execution of VDC goals and objectives and monitor and assist with BIM workflows, best practices, QA/QC, and value proposition
• Review and oversee the technical implementation of the VDC project setup process, including but not limited to integration with laser scans, and sUAS data
• Facilitate and support BIM meetings and design MEP coordination sessions
• Interact regularly with job sites and maintain an understanding of project VDC implementations
• Facilitate ongoing collaboration among VDC personnel including the sharing of best practices and lessons learned
• Actively participate in and support ongoing strategic initiatives related to VDC/BIM

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline, or relevant work experience
• 1+ years’ experience as a VDC engineer/coordinator, Project Engineer, Project Architect or a similar role in the construction industry
• Demonstrated knowledge and interest in current BIM and VDC software used at Clark including but not limited to Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks, Synchro/Fuzor, Assemble, and Sketchup
• Demonstrated ability to extensively navigate complex/federated models, design documentation, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings
• Excellent knowledge of BIM processes used for MEP coordination in project delivery
• Computer proficient including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter with the drive to pursue continued education in VDC
