Job summary

Clark Construction seeks a Virtual Design & Construction Project Engineer to manage BIM coordination and VDC deployment on major projects. You will support model management, oversee coordination between clients, trade partners, project engineers, and field teams, and drive BIM workflows, QA/QC, and laser/sUAS data integration.

The role requires 2+ years in VDC or related roles, with strong experience in Revit, Acc, Navisworks, Fuzor, and SketchUp.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a VDC engineer/coordinator or similar role in construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BIM software including Revit, ACC, Navisworks, Fuzor and SketchUp.
  • Ability to navigate complex federated models, design docs, RFIs and shop drawings.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Support model coordination with Architectural, MEPTF, Civil and other disciplines.
  • Oversee BIM workflows, QA/QC and best practices across the project life cycle.
  • Review VDC project setup, laser scans, and sUAS data integration.
  • Facilitate BIM meetings and MEPT coordination sessions.
  • Engage with job sites to understand VDC implementations and share best practices.
  • Present VDC results to clients and industry groups.

Job description

As a Virtual Design & Construction Project Engineer, you will join a project team tasked with the responsibility for all technical and engineering aspects of your project. You will support model management, and coordination between our clients, trade partners, project engineers, field engineers, architects, and our employees. The VDC Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the VDC Manager to ensure the successful corporate deployment and local adoption of VDC/BIM to leverage the complete construction data lifecycle, from construction through project turnover.ResponsibilitiesSupport model coordination with Architectural, MEPTF, Civil, and other disciplines, work with project superintendents concerning site utilization plans and logistics including AR/VR integrations.Support the enforcement of the BIM coordination plan/scheduleOversee and facilitate reality capture including 360 photo documentation and aerial (drone) operationsCollaborate with the VDC Manager in the Design and implementation of VDC strategy throughout the project life cycle from design and construction to facilities managementPlay a support role in the work with internal departments to understand current processes, advise, and assist in implementing VDC processesIdentify and manage constructability issues, and missing model information, and notify respective parties of issues and RFIs to support the resolution processRepresent Clark by participating in VDC presentations to clients and industry groupsAssist with the execution of VDC goals and objectives and monitor and assist with BIM workflows, best practices, QA/QC, and value propositionReview and oversee the technical implementation of the VDC project setup process, including but not limited to integration with laser scans, and sUAS dataFacilitate and support BIM meetings and design MEP coordination sessionsInteract regularly with job sites and maintain an understanding of project VDC implementationsFacilitate ongoing collaboration among VDC personnel including the sharing of best practices and lessons learnedActively participate in and support ongoing strategic initiatives related to VDC/BIMBasic QualificationsUndergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline, or relevant work experience2+ years’ experience as a VDC engineer/coordinator, Project Engineer, Project Architect or a similar role in the construction industryDemonstrated knowledge and interest in current BIM and VDC software used at Clark including but not limited to Revit, ACC, Navisworks, Fuzor and SketchupDemonstrated ability to extensively navigate complex/federated models, design documentation, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.Excellent knowledge of BIM processes used for MEP coordination in project deliveryComputer proficient including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter with the drive to pursue continued education in VDCAlignment to Clark Standards of Excellence: Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds RelationshipsPreferred QualificationsRevit ACC, Navisworks Clash Detective, Sketchup (must have) and FuzorThe work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.The Physical Side of the Role: Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you'll also be expected to move actively throughout the project office and dynamic construction site, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.Your Work Environment: Your primary workspace will be in our jobsite trailer, which has typical, moderate noise and light levels. As part of your work, you will be required to walk the active construction site. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. For this role the base salary range is $50,000 - $140,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
