Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking a VDC/BIM focused engineer to support virtual design and construction efforts. The role involves creating virtual simulations, coordinating 3D models, and performing constructability reviews to improve project quality.

The ideal candidate has a BIM background, reads drawings, and communicates effectively across disciplines, with 3-5 years of relevant experience. This is a full-time, on-site position integrating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Associate degree with 3-5 years in VDC/BIM preferred.
• BIM software, hardware, and technology knowledge.
• Ability to read drawings and understand specs, codes, and data.
• Familiar with MEPF system design.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to work with cross-discipline teams.
• Data analytics, visual programming, and VR/AR experience.

Responsibilities

• Create virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety, sequencing, scheduling, and VR experiences.
• Manage 3D coordination activities with operation teams from kickoff to closeout.
• Perform preconstruction model tasks – quality verifications, schedule validations, constructability reviews, and virtual mock-ups.
• Drive R&D of new software, hardware, and technology to optimize execution and project quality.

Typical Daily tasks include:

• Creating virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety concerns, building sequencing, scheduling, and VR experiences.

Required Experience

Basic qualifications for Entry-Level Engineer candidates include:

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Knowledge of basic business principles sufficient to project and monitor expenses.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions and engineering/architectural drawings.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Experience with construction projects, mechanical/electrical systems, building materials, building mechanics or working with craft workers.
