Interstates is seeking a Virtual Design and Construction Drafter (VDC Tech) to create models and drawing sets per Interstates standards. The role collaborates with teams to implement best practices and deliverables across projects.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or AA/AS, with 1–2 years in virtual design or related fields preferred. Travel up to 15% is required, with compensation ranging $25–$32 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or an applicable associate degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical college is required.
• Candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a virtual design, construction, or related technical field are preferred.
• A combination of relevant education and hands-on experience will also be considered in place of formal education requirements.
• Ideal candidates will have foundational experience with virtual modeling software, construction documentation, or technical design applications that support virtual design and construction processes.

Responsibilities

• Create deliverable sets based on direction from others by navigating systems and operating tools efficiently.
• Learn tool functionality by researching and leveraging mentorship and other available resources.
• Continuously improve methods and efficiency by collaborating with others
• Modify models, data, or drawing sets based on direction from others.
• Communicate effectively using virtual and in-person collaboration tools with internal and external teams.
• Apply model and scope changes by adjusting deliverables as required.
• Document and archive revisions by adhering to established procedures.
• Follow project workflows and agreed upon standards to meet typical deliverable requirements and schedules.
• Perform self-checks to identify and correct major errors and deviations from best practices.
• Assist in peer reviewing others' work to ensure compliance with established standards.
• Self-perform advanced design tasks with direction.
• Provide continuous improvement suggestions for tools and processes.
• Work directly with manufacturing and construction teams to deliver constructable design.
