Job summary
Rex Moore Electrical & Systems Contractors & Engineers is seeking a VDC/BIM Detailer to transform design documents into coordinated, code-compliant 3D models and installation drawings for prefabrication and field work.
You will collaborate with BIM Coordinators and field leaders, apply our VDC standards, perform self-checks, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting project teams across California and Nevada.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, CAD, Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred and/or Electrical Field Experience.
- 2+ years electrical detailing.
- Knowledge of NEC codes and prefab workflows.
- Proficient in Revit; exposure to Navisworks and ACC.
Responsibilities
- Interpret construction documents, electrical codes, and client-specific standards to guide detailing work that aligns with the coordinated BIM model.
- Produce detailed model elements and installation drawings that support fabrication and field installation.
- Apply Rex Moore’s VDC modeling standards, templates, and content libraries to ensure consistency and compliance across all deliverables.
- Ensure detailing work is accurate, up to date, and aligned with project specifications, internal standards, and client expectations.
- Collaborate with BIM Coordinators to ensure outputs meet coordination protocols and software standards.
- Participate in constructability reviews and model coordination meetings as needed.
- Communicate constructability and detailing concerns with the VDC Design and Constructability Manager to support continuous improvement.
- Review and redline design documents for constructability, field accuracy, and completeness.
- Create RFIs to address incomplete or conflicting design information.

The VDC/BIM Detailer is responsible for assisting in the production of accurate and constructible 3D models and detailed electrical installation drawings that support prefabrication and field installation. Working under the guidance of the VDC Design and Constructability Manager and VDC/BIM Manager, and in collaboration with BIM Coordinators and field leadership, the VDC/BIM Detailer transforms design documents into coordinated, code-compliant models and drawings. This role supports project execution by maintaining quality, consistency, and constructability while contributing to continuous improvement of company standards and practices.
- Interpret construction documents, electrical codes, and client-specific standards to guide detailing work that aligns with the coordinated BIM model.
- Produce detailed model elements and installation drawings that support fabrication and field installation.
- Apply Rex Moore’s VDC modeling standards, templates, and content libraries to ensure consistency and compliance across all deliverables.
- Ensure detailing work is accurate, up to date, and aligned with project specifications, internal standards, and client expectations.
- Support BIM Coordinators in model population and multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
- Collaborate with VDC/BIM Coordinators to ensure that modeling outputs meet coordination protocols and software standards.
- Participate in constructability reviews and model coordination meetings as needed.
- Communicate constructability and detailing concerns with the VDC Design and Constructability Manager to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent/Foreman and BIM Coordinators to:
- Review and redline design documents for constructability, field accuracy, and completeness.
- Integrate field markups into coordinated models and drawings.
- Resolve coordination issues and ensure production of clash‑free, constructible models.
- Create RFIs to address incomplete or conflicting design information.
- Verify that BOMs, prefab details, and installation drawings meet project requirements and installation expectations.
- Conduct self‑checks and peer reviews of detailing work prior to submission for QA/QC review or approval.
- Recommend constructability improvements and value‑driven detailing strategies to the VDC Design and Constructability Manager.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement or detailing efficiency through lessons learned from field feedback or coordination challenges.

Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.
Work is performed in an office environment. This position may be required to travel to other office locations.
Rex Moore and affiliated offices are located throughout California and Nevada.

Department – VDC Department

- Ability to interpret construction documents and codes.
- Collaboration across teams.
- Accurate model population and updates.
- Ability to perform detailing tasks accurately under supervision.
- Ability to grow constructability awareness and code compliance.
- Ability to develop toward Sr. BIM Detailer role.
- Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
- Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
- Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift, carry at least 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds.
- Occasionally required to walk and stand for short and long periods of time.
- Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof‑read documents to identify errors.
- Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
