Job summary

HDR is seeking a VCF Platform Engineer I to perform day-to-day ops for its private cloud and support vSphere cluster operations in an on-site setting. You will manage host adds/removals, patching, and health checks while contributing to incident response and IaC maintenance.

The role requires hands-on VMware vSphere experience, ESXi host management, and scripting skills (PowerCLI or Python). Excellent collaboration across compute, storage, and network teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in infrastructure ops, virtualization, or systems administration.
• Hands-on VMware vSphere administration experience.
• Experience managing ESXi hosts, clusters, and VMs.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Linux and Windows Server administration knowledge.
• Scripting or automation with PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible.
• Understanding core datacenter concepts: compute, storage, network, patching.
• Ability to work in production with change control and stability.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day ops for the VCF private cloud under established procedures.
• Support SDDC Manager, workload domains, and vSphere cluster operations.
• Perform host adds/removals, cluster maintenance, and health checks.
• Assist with patching, upgrades, and remediation activities.
• Provision infra resources and support workload deployments.
• Monitor platform health, capacity, and escalate risks.
• Participate in incident response as first responder.
• Maintain IaC templates, standard builds, and golden VM images.
• Cross-train across compute, storage, networking within VCF.
• Maintain runbooks and knowledge articles.
