Sentara Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician on the Vascular Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. The role requires delivering direct patient care, monitoring vitals, assisting mobility, and performing phlebotomy and EKG testing under RN supervision.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 90 days of hire. One year of healthcare experience is preferred. This full-time day shift includes weekends and holidays rotation.

Location & Shift

Norfolk, VA

First (Days) – full‑time, day shift (12‑hour). Hours: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, 36 hours per week with rotating weekends and holidays.

Position Overview

Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Vascular Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care and support activities of daily living, take vital signs, assist mobility and ambulation, perform phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal. Comply with patient safety practices under RN direction. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, document accurately, and report changes to staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Additionally, must have one of the following certifications or experience: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMT/EMR/AEMT/Paramedic, or be a current student enrolled in a RN/LPN/RT/PT program with at least one semester completed, or have current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

• Certifications/Licensure: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

• Experience: One year of health‑care experience (preferred).
