Qualifications

Job Details

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Vascular Technologist utilizes diagnostic ultrasound equipment to perform general and vascular examinations to produce ultrasound images of the body for diagnostic and interventional purposes. The technologist exercises good judgment in determining necessary measurements, performs all computer processing for ultrasound examinations, and delivers patient care and education before, during, and after procedures. May act as a mentor for less experienced vascular technologists.

Essential Functions

• Interacts professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson's values.
• Performs vascular ultrasound procedures including Carotid Duplex Ultrasounds, Pulse Volume Recordings, Peripheral Vascular Arterial and Venous Studies.
• Performs ultrasonic diagnostic echocardiograms following accepted protocols.
• Instructs patients to ensure cooperation and optimal test results.
• Adheres to safety standards when operating equipment.
• Utilizes all software applications effectively, including PACS and echocardiographic reporting systems.
• Maintains ultrasound and lab equipment, ensuring proper operation.
• Performs related duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.
• Maintains ongoing education to meet licensing and job requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of RIS and PACS systems.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate of an approved RDMS program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
• At least two years’ experience as a cardiac sonographer and one year in vascular imaging.

Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Active RVT or RVS registration.
• RDMS or CCI certification in echocardiography.

Additional Information

• May require travel between Jefferson sites.

Rotating shifts.
