Job summary

Baptist Health in Louisville, KY seeks a vascular ultrasound technologist to assess and record vascular data across cerebrovascular, peripheral and abdominal systems. You will perform exams, document results for physician interpretation, and support data collection for quality improvement.

Requires RVT/RVS registry eligibility within 3 months, BLS, CPR, and ongoing competency validation in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an allied health field program and an associate degree preferred.
  • Must be registry eligible RVT or RVS within 3 months of hire.
  • Applicants registered in other ultrasound registries must obtain RVT or RVS within 9 months.
  • BLS within 2 weeks of hire; CPR certification required.
  • Graduates of accredited vascular ultrasound programs must register within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates anatomy and physiology knowledge of cerebrovascular, peripheral and abdominal systems.
  • Records medical history, exam indication and physical evaluation as ordered.
  • Performs calibrations, inspections, and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
  • Performs vascular procedures with proficiency.
  • Completes annual competency validation, safety training and OSHA requirements.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement per IAC, JCAHO and hospital guidelines.

Job description

Summary

Responsible for performing diagnostic noninvasive vascular exams using a variety of ultrasound equipment. Exams are performed in a professional manner demonstrating technical accuracy and cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological and diagnostic images. Provides preliminary reports to the reading physician for interpretation and referring provider when indicated. Assists with the collection and analysis of data for quality improvement purposes. Maintains ultrasound equipment and work areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Patient population includes any patient admitted to Baptist Hospital, age 5 years to geriatrics. Assesses the vascular system according to the exam ordered. Performs the vascular exams in a professional manner demonstrating technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of the equipment. Records the results of the exam for interpretation by the Medical Director. Assists with the collection and analysis of data for statistical purposes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job:

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cerebrovascular, peripheral vascular and abdominal vascular systems.

Records an accurate medical history, indication for exam, and a physical evaluation according to the exam ordered.

Performs and documents routine calibrations, inspections, and maintenance of all equipment.

Demonstrates proficiency while performing vascular procedures

Annual completion of competency validation, safety training, and OSHA requirements.

Performs Quality Improvement duties in accordance to IAC, JCAHO, hospital and department guidelines.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required

Graduate of an allied health field program.Associate Degree programpreferred.

Must be registered or be an eligible candidate for registry in Vascular Ultrasound through the following: Registry through either the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) within 3 months of hire.

Applicants who are registered in another ultrasound registry, such as, RDMS-AB, RDMS, RDCS, or RCS must obtain their RVT or RVS within 9 months of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire,

Graduates of an accredited vascular ultrasound program must be registered within 3 months of hire.

CPR certification required
