Job summary

CHRISTUS Children's in San Antonio, Texas is looking for a full-time Ultrasound Technologist to coordinate and perform diagnostic imaging procedures. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in a variety of vascular procedures and assist the Radiologist with invasive techniques.

Candidates must possess a graduate degree from an AMA approved school and relevant certifications, including BLS, to join our team in delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiological Sciences or equivalent.
• Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification required.
• One year of experience in a clinical ultrasound setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform various high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision.
• Assist the Radiologist in invasive biopsy procedures.
• Ensure all procedures are accurately charged and ready for billing.
• Maintain Ultrasound room supplies and equipment readiness.

Job description

Summary

Coordinate and perform diagnostic medical imaging procedures for the Department of Ultrasound; assisting the Radiologist utilizing a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, both fixed or mobile.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of high quality ultrasound procedures including all vascular studies under minimal supervision utilizing diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment.
• Document calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment.
• Coordinate, organize, plan and make quick decisions on emergent cases; evaluate and act to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity.
• Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system to pinpoint exact anatomical location(s) of a specified diseased area for specimen evaluation and diagnosis.
• Perform all vascular ultrasound exams requested.
• Ensure that all procedures are accurately charged and that all charges are turned in at the end of the day for correct billing.
• Ensure that the Ultrasound room is adequately supplied, check equipment and computer status for readiness, reports any problems that could change the workflow and make sure corrective actions are taken to ensure workflow continuity.
• Demonstrate competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a way that meets the age‑specific and developmental needs of persons served by the department.
• Appropriately adapt assigned patient assessment to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age‑specific and other developmental needs of each person served.

Requirements

Education / Skills

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiological Sciences, Ultrasound Technology, or other accepted and approved equivalent.

Experience

• One (1) year of experience in a clinical ultrasound setting is preferred.
• Prefer one (1) year of experience performing the following exams:
• Carotid Arteries
• Upper Extremity veins
• Lower Extremity veins
• Upper Extremity arteries
• Lower Extremity arteries
• Abdominal Aorta
• Aortic Hepatic and Porta flow systems
• PW or CW insonation of cerebral arteries transcranially, and peripheral arteries.
• Knowledge of plethysmography for arterial and venous circulation evaluation.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is required.
• Registration by the credentialing bodies for Ultrasound Technologists is required.
• American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ultrasound) is required.
• BLS is required.
