Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Austin, Texas is seeking a Vascular Technologist. In this role, you will perform non-invasive hemodynamic evaluations and carry out vascular ultrasonic procedures. You will also be responsible for scheduling patients and explaining procedures to ensure optimal results. Candidates must have at least one year of experience as an ultrasound technologist and hold the necessary state certifications. Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs non-invasive hemodynamic evaluations and writes test results.

General Summary of Duties
  • Perform vascular ultrasonic procedures as directed by physicians.
  • Schedule patients for procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Position patients and select the appropriate transducer.
  • Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment by moving the scanner over specified body area and adjusting equipment to focus.
  • Perform exams properly and in a timely manner.
  • Take patient history and retrieve previous files.
  • Coordinate patient flow and check daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Order and stock all supplies.
  • Maintain department records, reports and files.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.
Education

No education requirements.

Experience

Minimum one-year experience as an ultrasound technologist/sonographer.

Certification or License
  • Must hold one or more of the following credentials: Registered Vascular Tech, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in accordance with state regulation and clinical specialty.
  • Must have certification through ARDMS or ARRT.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of vascular sonography.
  • Sufficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology pertaining to vascular examinations.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to take vital signs.
  • Skill in using basic office equipment, including computer, telephone, photocopier, and fax machine.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment in vascular lab.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work effectively under stress.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
