Job description

Job Summary

As a Vascular Technologist you are responsible for performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound. You will operate ultrasound equipment to provide and document accurate and quality sonographic studies of normal and abnormal anatomy, and perform ultrasound exams including Abdominal, OB, GYN, Small Parts, Prostate, and Vascular Scans. You will demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by or at the request of a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities
  • Identify upper/lower extremity venous anatomy, extra cranial and intracranial anatomy, upper/lower extremity arterial anatomy and collateral venous pathways in the presence of disease.
  • Perform upper/lower extremity Venous Duplex protocol for DVT or Venous Insufficiency, Carotid Duplex exam protocol, and protocol for upper/lower extremity arterial flow exam.
  • Produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric.
  • Relay to Radiologist any relevant patient information.
  • Complete required documentation on forms, logs, and in computer.
  • Label images and identify according to protocol.
  • Obtain all pertinent patient history and relay it to the Radiologist to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
  • Review written orders, assess patient identification, and ensure indicators are appropriate prior to procedure.
  • Clean exam tables and restock ultrasound supplies as needed or used.
  • Sterilize trans‑vaginal transducer according to established protocol.
  • Complete charge processing for individual patient care items, drugs, and exams.
Qualifications
  • One year experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer.
  • One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist – preferred.
  • Completion of a single two‑year allied health education program that is patient‑care related OR graduation from a program accredited by CHEA, USDOE or CMA, specifically for diagnostic medical sonography, diagnostic cardiac sonography, or vascular technology.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a related technological field – preferred.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with ARDMS or Registered Vascular Sonographer (VS) with CCI or Vascular Sonography with ARRT – required.
  • BLS Certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
  • Registered Technologist with ARRT, post‑primary certification in Sonography – preferred.
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist with the Texas Medical Board – preferred.
