Piedmont Heart Institute Physicians is recruiting a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the vascular surgery team at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This Advanced Practice Provider will handle inpatient rounds, assist in the OR, and occasionally work in the clinic.

The role offers the opportunity to work with esteemed cardiovascular specialists and participate in a comprehensive care program. Minimum qualifications include PA graduates with Georgia state licensure or NP with Georgia

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current Georgia license.
• Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Strong vascular/cardiovascular or general surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to support physicians.
• Documents histories, exams, progress notes, and develops therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Orders labs and imaging and explains procedures to patients and families.
• Monitors patient progress and reports to supervising physician.
• Advances inpatient vascular care and provides clinic coverage; assists in the OR as needed.

Advanced Practice Provider - Vascular Surgery - Piedmont Augusta

Overview:

Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position will support the In-patient Vascular Service and includes both inpatient rounding and first assisting in the OR. Some occasional crossover may be required in the clinic setting.

Piedmont Heart Institute provides the full line of cardiovascular services with dedicated electrophysiology, transplant, advanced heart failure, critical care, interventional, surgical and research services.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

• a. Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
• b. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
• c. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient's family, and staff.
• d. Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
• e. This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for Vascular inpatient, as well as Clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board

or

NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing

Preferred Requirements:

Strongly prefer candidates with previous vascular, cardiovascular or general surgery experience.
